I have an interview at University of Maryland this week. I stay at Silver Spring and wonder if anyone on here know how to get to the school via public transportation. Thank you.

Not sure about the public transportation, perhaps cab? I stayed at Silver Spring for my Howard interview and I've been to the Maryland interview too....but it's about a 30-40 minute car ride from Silver Spring to University of Maryland from what I remember...

hey... i am from the DC area and the previous poster does have a good point... while I wouldnt take a cab to the school from Silver Spring because that is pretty much DC, I would take a flat rate cab to BWI (the baltimore- washington international airport), then I would go to ground transportation and take a cab to the school... this will make your trip significantly cheaper.... or you can take the commuter train from Union Station to downtown Baltimore... you should look up the commuter train, I think that it is Amtrak, but don't quote me... just google it and it will tell you exactly what you need to know... the train actually goes to Camden Yards which is really close to the Dental School.... good luck!!!

If you decide to go straight to BWI, I recommend taking the MTA light rail from the airport to downtown. Get off at the University Center/Baltimore Street stop, two stops past Camden Yards. It is cheap ($1.60), possibly quicker than a cab depending on traffic, and a quick and easy walk 4 blocks to the dental school.

Yep, take the light rail. I took it last year when I interviewed there. There are ticket machines along the wall before you go onto the platform.

I waited for a little bit - like 20 minutes. After dark. And I'm a girl. And I'm hot. But then I'm also a black belt in a$$-kicking so I'm sure that kept anyone from ... you know, looking at me.

I stayed at the Radisson which is about 3 blocks walk from the train station. I walked from there to the school, 5 or 6 blocks away. Nothing you can't handle and it'll save you some money.

edit: I just noticed you said you're staying at Silver Spring. Not sure how to get there or from there to the school. But you can still take the lite rail to the airport which will only cost $1.60. This is if you have the time to, that is. Make sure you read the rail map and get off for the transfer. I just kept riding it and missed where I was supposed to get off.

Thanks everyone for suggestions!

I just did a search and can't find any info about flat rate cab to BWI. On BWI website, it does mention that flat rate cab is illegal in Maryland though ???

take the MARC train to camden yards (downtown baltimore)... the school is within walking distance from there. This is by far your cheapest, quickest route to Maryland Dental from Silver Springs.

jb!🙂
