I was accepted to Maryland and Rutgers dental school and having a very difficult time deciding between the two.

I am attending undergraduate school in the state of MD, my boyfriend is from here (very committed relationship), and have a lot of close friends in the area so always dreamed about going to Maryland dental school.

However, I am instate in New Jersey and also have a lot of close friends in the area.

I am applying for the HPSP scholarship, but of course that is no guarantee and can most likely get in state in Maryland after one year.

I also got a scholarship to VCU that would bring it to the same price as Rutgers, but really do not have any connections in the area.

If anyone can offer advice or make comparisons between the two schools, please do!

Maryland without a doubt. Rich history as the first dental school in the world, and amazing reputation as one of the top dental programs in the country. Although Richmond, Newark, and Baltimore are all pretty dangerous cities, I think that Baltimore has more exciting things to do. Unless you plan on going to NYU or USC, then minor cost differences aren't too important with the salary you'll be making as a dentist. Also, you can get in-state tuition after one year at UMSOD. Hope this helps.
