Looking to register in Massachusetts at the moment and need to take the jurisprudence exam. Does anyone happen to have any tips on finding study materials for the exam? I've searched the MA gov website extensively, but it's difficult to read and navigate. I have a friend who just registered (in another state) and she was able to buy a book for her exam. Not sure if MA has something similar or if I'm stuck reading the legislation online.

Thanks!

I don't think you need to study for it like that. It's just a paper test that they send you multiple choice that is open book. Just have the MA practice act open online to access state statutes.

Thanks Minnerbelle. 🙂

Hi
Did you take the exam?

Hi OP. I just recently relocated to MA and established licensure in this state. What specific questions do you have?
Hello, Im a new grad from Michigan, looking to practice in Boston, Massachusetts. How was your overall experience transferring your license over to Massachusetts? More specifically the jurisprudence exam.
Thanks in advanced and I hope you have a great day.

I hope it all went well OP!

No seriously if you have the reading comprehension level of a 5th grader and can google the MA practice act, you should be fine... it’s the least of your worries. Best to get your paperwork in during the off season when the office isn’t processing the entire graduating class’s worth of licenses because it takes forever during that time.

Hi there,

Jurisprudence exam shouldn't be a problem. Read the practice act carefully and you should be fine. MA requires two professional references to transfer a license from one state to another. Also, official proof of licensure from your original state must be sent to the MA state board. All documents must be notarized. The fee is pretty steep. All told, it cost me about $450 to transfer my license from another state to MA. Not sure what the de novo fee would be right out of school (you'd be applying to MA directly for a license, not transferring from another state). Folks at the MA state board are helpful. If you've got any questions after reading the online instructions, give them a ring- I'm sure they'd be happy to help. Hope this is helpful! Good luck with your relocation 🙂
