For those of you who are working on your master degree and got accepted into at least one dental school please vote...

I was accepted before I finished my M.S. (which I do in a week) but I am supposed to finish it before I start d-school in august.

I think most schools will want you to finish your M.S., meaning if you get accepted while working on your M.S., they will require that you finish it before you matriculate into D-school. I wouldn't count on just dropping out once you get accepted, as I doubt schools would like that...

Thanks for your info, drpduck. Looks like I need to switch my non-thesis MS to thesis. That sucks!!!

Only 5 master students got accepted into d-school? Come on guys, just a simple click. 😉

It depends on your M.S. My program is strictly coursework based non-thesis M.S., meaning I take X number of classes with B- or higher and get my degree. But there are so many different M.S. programs out there its best to consult your academic advisor.

For those who got accept, do you mind to tell us what is your MS GPA range?

a) above 3.85
b) above 3.50
c) above 3.30
d) above 3.00

etc. Thank you all.

I know the thread is old but it'll help those who are in a grad program...

This isn't exactly the best way to tell whether or not you should do a thesis or not. You'd need to look at the number of acceptances out of the number of people who applied... unfortunately, the way the polls work, you can't really do that...

What if 5/6 master's non-thesis people were accepted while 9/25 master's thesis people were accepted? That would say a non-thesis masters is better.... on the other hand, they may have the same acceptance rate... This poll is really just telling you what kind of master's people decided to pursue, not which kind the schools seem to prefer... don't all go off and switch your non-thesis to a thesis! haha (4.0 gpa in a non-thesis)

Sephisabin: Thank you for the inputs. Like you said, this post isn't about which type of master is better, I'm simply just want to see what kind of master's people decided to pursue dentistry.
