Hey all,

I'm currently in a one year Masters program in Biomedical sciences and applying to dental school at the same time. It looks like I'm going to end up getting a C in one of my classes, and I'm genuinely concerned and freaked out. I've worked really hard in this class, but physiology is just not one of my strong points, I guess.

I know there's an academic update in November and while my other grades are good, I'm worried about what admissions committees will think about this C.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation, and still made it through? Please don't post anything negative, just be honest.

Thanks.

I'm assuming you're doing a Masters to improve your GPA and to show that you can handle a few upper-level science courses a semester. So in all honesty, getting a "C" is unacceptable if you are trying to make a statement to dental schools. I don't mean to be negative, but I think at this point in your academic career... you need honesty. At the end of the day, if it is just one "C" and you've earned A's in every other class... then perhaps you could have a good reason for it. The way I see it though is that a Masters is your shot at trying to prove yourself if your undergraduate GPA is below average for whatever reason.

At this point, I recommend finishing this semester strong and try to ace your other classes to hopefully offset your GPA if anything.

It depends on your current GPA. I had A's and B's in my program and I only have rejections so far.

Well, just bust your butt as hard as you can and try to work out a B. Maybe talk to the professor. I also am struggling in a class and am worried about getting a C. Fortunately, I have been in my program for a while so it won't really affect my GPA as I have A's in everything else. Also, my professor sucks at life and this is a well known fact, so Im honestly not too worried.
