Exercise Physiolgy major here. Thinking of getting an early start on a masters in ex phys or maybe biomechanics because of an extra year of athletics eligibility (D1 baseball player-- medical redshirt). My athletics scholarship would basically take care of the costs of my first year of grad school. Would doing this help at all if planing on attending med school one day? Would the ex phys/biomech material in grad school give me any kind of advantage in med school?

I wouldn't want to commit myself to grad school if it's not really worth it.. Another option would be to just lengthen my ugrad and take a few more upper level sciences or something like that.

What do you think??

A grad school GPA is generally not considered in the med school application process, so if your GPAs aren't already superb, you would be better off taking additional upper-level Bio so the grades are included in your uGPA.

Any physiology-related classes would give you a jump on that subject when taken in med school, as would Biochem, Genetics, Cell Bio, etc.

A way in which a masters could positively impact your med school application would be if it provided research and teaching opportunities.
