Congrats everyone!

Oh and if anyone is interested in where Harvard med people matched in psych: 1 at cambridge, 1 at MGH (Me!!), 1 at Yale, 1 at san mateo and 1 at Columbia. Too bad we only had 5. Lots of derm, ortho, rad onc in our class....

Also, it turns out that the other MGH child track person is from HMS originally and is a PGY-2 at Children's hospital now, transferring in.

5 people from HMS going into psych is still pretty good!

(My school had 3 people go into psych and it was the most in recent memory!)

Going to UWashington! #3 for me, but a very good program.

University at Buffalo. My #1 choice and kinda, sorta "home". Got myself worried at 1 AM last night after viewing their past match lists which normally placed four out of the total 5 spots to their own grads.

#1

Longwood did exceptionally well on the match this year (at least on paper-->all US MDs from mid- to Ivy L. med schools). Congrats to everyone who matched at their respective programs.

Thank goodness the program that I matched at looks beyond the confines of the paper when selecting its applicants! Just happy that I found the program that was right for me, and not one that keeps the "riff raff" out.

Congrats to all!

Not sure if you're slamming the poster or the program here. If it's the poster, they did specify "on paper, at least" which seems to indicate an awareness that what's on paper isn't necessarily indicative of a good applicant. If it's the program, then I can tell you that Longwood has no problem with "riff raff" - if they did then I'd never have got in.

Still haven't told us where you matched BTW, what's with all the secrecy?

Awwww... I never would have associated you with "riff-raff."

I think what he's saying is that Longwood transformed him into the Paragon of Psychiatric Virtue that he is today! 😀

That's right, DocSamson was Longwood Riff Raff...I mean that Longwood Paragon stuff....

DocS, someone above who matched in Boston titled her reply as "wicked awesome"....am I not correct that the proper expression in Boston is "wicked pissah"? It was when I was growing up there (I'm riff raff).

While wicked pissah is the classic, wicked anything pretty much works. For instance, "After I trained at Longwood I was wicked smaht."

For what it's worth, the schools attended by incoming residents at 2 NYC programs (my hunch is that it's not worth all that much, since the key variables in regards to choices made by both program and student don't have much to do with the name on top of the diploma; the one thing that leaps out is the geographic clustering on the eastern seaboard, though the east coast preponderance probably may just reflect the applicant pool):

Damn, Longwood is a good program-- to turn someone like DocSamson, a "wicked pissah/RiffRaff resident" into "wicked awesome" Psych Paragon is quite a feat. I think that they should make a before and after promotional video.
