Following up on the thread about who finds out info first, I was wondering about the basics of how applicants are notified. My understanding is that we get an email on Monday of match week saying that we matched (or not?). And your school finds out, too, right, since you apparently get a page from the school if you don't match. Then on Thursday, most people find out in public at the school's match day ceremony, but I heard you got an email around noon that day with your match info -- is that correct? Personally I'd prefer to know where I'm going before opening my envelope in front of my whole class.

My understanding from last year's fourth years is that you actually get the email about an hour after the big reveal at school. Not that YOU have anything to worry about... I'm a psychic and can pretty confidently say wherever you rank #1 is where you'll end up 😉

Yep, that's correct.

The school also finds out, that's true. (Well, to be more specific, the dean's office.) Whether or not you get a page is school dependent. Each school has different policies.

No, you can find out online about an hour after the match ceremony.

First of all, this all happens at the same time across the country - the match is revealed at Noon, EST. It may be different depending on where you live. This also holds true for all things during Match Week, including the scramble (i.e. it's all based off Eastern Time).

You get an online notification an hour after the Match Ceremony.

Whether or not you're required to be at your Match Day ceremony depends on your school. My school didn't require it, so I was actually on vacation during that week. Some schools also don't even have you open the envelope in front of other people - my school handed envelopes out, but you were free to open it wherever you wanted....in your apartment, in front of the library, in the bathroom..... Your school may do something completely different, though.

at my school, they hand out the envelopes one at a time in an auditorium in front of all our classmates' families and friends and you open it on stage and announce where you are going :scared:

Mine too. Last year one girl read where she was going, burst into tears, and ran off the stage.

That's how they do it at my school, too. I guess you would have the option of not opening it or not attending, but I think people generally feel pressured to go and open the envelope in front of everyone. That's why it would be nice to get an email before I open my envelope.

I hope your psychic powers are strong. :xf:
