Hi everyone , I am new to the forum and I appreciate anyones help in this dilemma I am having.

I matched into a IM residency this year, but I was put on 3 month probation in a previous residency ,while filling in the training certificate for my current IM residency , the state medical board is asking if I was ever put on probation during residency? I answered yes and furnished a letter explaining what happened.(Pre occupation with father's will and death which caused me to be late to staff meetings and call. Also generel regret for entering Family Medicine when I found out it was not for me and that i want to do fellowship training in IM. I am to blame still, this I know , and have spent the last year up to match day bettering my self and my mistakes and CME)

Do you think the IM program will look in this further and not allow me to start my residency in July?

A point to note ; they did not bring up my previous residency much during the interview or ask for specifics about it. I was very onest with all that did ask during the interview.

If you listed the training on your ERAS application and answered all questions in your interview honestly, then you have done all you need to do. The onus is on programs to inquire about your prior training and any problems.

I guess the only way they could complain is your answer to "Are there any reasons why you might have trouble with licensure" (whatever the actual wording is). They could argue that you should have answered yes, if you answered no. Still, I think that's a weak argument.

At this point, what we think doesn't matter much any more, just what your program thinks.
