Hello everyone,

I tried looking this up but couldn't find anything. I know that for taking the MCAT the name in your ID should match exactly the name on your registration. No problem. Now, what about matching the name used for the MCAT with the AAMC application?

I ask because I'm hispanic and my AAMC application will have my full name with my two last names because my transcripts have it this way. But for the MCAT I can either use my first name, middle name initial and first last name as it appears on my driver's license, or my full name as it appears in my passport. I am wondering which one I should use.

Should I go with the full name and using my passport that way it also matches my name on the AAMC application? or doesn't really matter?.

I was thinking of changing my transcripts to use only my first name, middle name initial and first last name but my advisor told me this would be a pain in the butt and grades could get lost and whatever not. I wonder if I don't use the same name for the MCAT and the AAMC app if the same kind of mistakes could arise.

Also, when matriculating for med school, could you change the name from what's on you transcripts? I'd like to do so as soon as I matriculate. I'm really getting tired of using the two last names it brings so much confusion! lol

What do you guys think?

Thanks!!

your MCAT registration info - name, birthday, etc. automatically transfers to the AMCAS app, and is locked, so choose accordingly and in compliance with the guidelines.

once you get to med school i'm sure the school registrar will accommodate any reasonable request in name changes
