If triangle has 90 degrees with legs 8 (hypotenuse) and 4 (shortest side) can assume it is a 30 60 90 triangle?

or do I have to do pythag theorem......

If the last leg is the square root of 12 then yes it is a 30 60 90 triangle. Yes the Pythagorean theorem would be an easy way to find out.

google the laws of right triangle and it will tell you the ratio the sides need to be, so on and so forth.

There was a question given with a picture of a triangle saying Triangle ABC with B=90 degrees, and AC=8, and BC=4 what is AB?

do i have to do the pythag thereom?

or can i take a shortcut and assume it is a 30 60 90 degree triangle.....

I would assume that you can assume that. However I question my own assumption based on ass rule being nonexistent. I really never like to assume so I would do the math. It takes 25 secs to do the math, why not.
