How did you approach the math destroyer when you first started working on it?

Did you time yourself right away? Or perhaps you did the first few tests untimed+referred to notes?

I am only on Test 2-Q28 (I am using Chad's notes from his vids and I haven't timed myself yet) and I already feel so bummed and as if though I don't know sh......🙁 oh...and it takes me soooo long to do the questions...

Started tests without time for first 3 test. After that, you begin to see kind of the same sort of questions. Began with time after that, skipping the one's I was struggling on. Skipped a lot actually, but reviewed it and tried to get it right the next time. Began finishing near the time on the 9/10th tests. Just keep at it. The more you do, the more problems you will be able to do kind with instincts.

ok thanks..that makes me feel better..so you suggest after test 3 to time myself as in give myself 45 mins? and skip q's I don't know how to do? Also, not using notes after test 3? I have hard time remembering formulas for trigonometry

I think flash cards are the best for blind memorization for things like equations and identities. Once I felt like I knew them all, I started tackling the tests.

I did the tests on a timer after test 3 because that was when I felt I had a decent grasp of the material. If I was struggling after a minute into a problem, I would skip it. I did it like this in order to mimic the test scenario. You don't want to be spending too much time on one problem on the real test if you are really struggling on it. After 45 minutes past, I went over the one's I skipped and tried to do them without notes. I don't like relying on notes right away because I feel it restricts the creativity to solve problems. Sometimes I even found methods that worked better for me. If I had no clue, I went to my notes.

Everyone has a different approach that works for them. This is just what worked for me.

ok thanks. i will make flashcards for some formulas that I am struggling with and will take your advice and try your approach to working with a destroyer.

I literally came here to post the same thing. Got the book in the mail today and it's taking me forever.

not only that...i got 14/40 q's correct on the second test it seemed so much harder the first 🙁(
My QR score trashed my AA the last time I took the test because I sort of saved it until the end. This time, I am starting way early! It's funny, the Math section in the standard DAT Destroyer is easier than this. I wonder which one is more representative to the real test.

yes..it is indeed easier...i havent even scheduled my exam yet (planning for some time in august) and math was the first thing i started studying for - i was never good at it and certainly still am not lol...hopefully it'll improve
