In the circle below angle ABD is formed by tangent line AB and secant BD. If arc AC on the circle subtends an angle of 30 degrees and arc AD subtends an angle of 100 degrees, find the measure of the angle ABD.

A. 70 degrees
B. 65
C. 35
D. 60
E. 50

The answer is 35

From my understanding and what they have included in the answer explanation, the angle formed outside = 1/2 x (the difference of intercepted arcs). What I don't understand, however, is that in the answer they assumed the that the arc lengths are 30 and 100???? Aren't those the angle measures? The measure of an intercepted arc is twice the measure of the angle. So shouldn't it be (200 - 60) * 1/2 = 70 ??
That's what this site and many other sites I googled state.

I am soo confused. Any help would be appreciated.

I have included the image below.

Nvm..I had confused the terms "subtends" and "intercepts." Is it possible to delete this thread?

Uh... Sorry to bump this thread, but can anyone explain the solution. What does it exactly mean when the question states, "If Arc AC on the circle subtends an angle of 30 degrees."

I hate math.
