High gloss paint costs $15 more per gallon than Flat Finish paint.
If the cost of one can of each is 250% of the cost of a gallon of flat finish pain, how much is the cost of a gallon of Flat Finish paint?

Answer is 55


Can someone help me solve this?

HG = 15 + FF
HG + FF = 2.5 FF.
Substitute 15 + FF for HG to get
15 + FF + FF = 2.5 FF. (250% = 2.5)
15 + 2FF = 2.5FF
15 = 0.5FF
FF = 30

The answer is 30 not 55

I must have looked at the wrong test when I flipped to solutions
I appreciate you going through the effort to explain it to me though!, I was so puzzled thinking that they got 55 as an answer
