So... Using basic math, I get that the answer would be 50mph, but no such answer choice. So obviously what I'm doing is wrong... Can anyone explain before I look at the solution?

Rate= Total Distance/ Total Time

You are solving for R (rate).

You know that the total distance traveled by the 2 trucks is 150 miles. (D = 150) Now you need to find T.

Rearranging the equation R=D/t

t = D/ R

Plug in what you know:

R = 150/ (D1/R1 + D2/R2)

D1 = distance traveled by Truck 1
D2 = distance traveled by truck 2
R1 = Rate traveled by truck 1
R2 = Rate traveled by truck 2

150 / ((100/50) +(50/100))
150/ (2+.5)

Answer: 60 <is that the right answer?
