Math destroyer timing

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Never finished one in the time limit. Got a 26 QR on the real DAT with 5 minutes to spare. Just try to answer the questions as fast as possible.

Also, what would be a good amount of correct answers to get on math destroyer for every test? I am on test 4 an I am getting about 21/40 correct 🙁

Not entirely sure, I was doing bad in the beginning like 23-25/40, I think towards the end by test 9-10 I was getting 33-35 right. I tried to finish the exams in under an hour.

ok thank you. i will be learning from my mistakes and will hopefully improve towards the end..i was very concerned about timing because for now it takes me about 1 hour to do about 25-30 q's...

I'd finish usually at 44 or 45 min, and averaged at 34-36 correct out of 40. I unfortunately got a 20 on QR (lower than my Achiever scores). Not sure what happened, but I didn't think the math destroyer test were representative of my version of QR.

Update: Did Test #5 today and gave myself only 1 hour to do it and got 24/40 correct ( I skipped a few questions that were taking me too much time or those that I didn't know how to solve)...

are you naturally good at math? these were awesome stats.
did you feel that QR on test day was harder? More words problems? etc...

I time myself 45 minutes and always run out of time by 1-2 questions and usually get around 35 right. (My last test I got 30/40 though, I was pretty frustrated aha)
I have my DATs coming up soon but I'm getting distracted and nervous so I'm willing help you if you post couple of questions on my way of viewing things. Post like 1-2 questions of easy/med/hard questions so I can show you my approach, if you want that is!

I'd like to think I am naturally good at math, I always had been in middle and high school.

The actual exam had a lot of trig stuff I hadn't looked at in a while and that hasn't showed up in math destroyer, so maybe that could partially explain my score. Also I probably must have made a few careless mistakes, which I can believe since it's the last section and I was running on little to no sleep.

Have anyone tried giving yourself only 45 mins for the entire math destroyer test? How did that go?

I used to do alot of math competitions and I would say I'm very good at math. I did math destroyer in 45 minutes and would finish with about 2-3 minutes to spare. On test #1 (with no review, diving straight into it), I scored 31/40, and averaged like 37/40 for the rest of them, even hitting 40/40. I scored a 27 on the real thing, and was actually sort of disappointed because I finished with alottt of time and triple checked my answers.

To score highly on QR, I think you should first memorize (and understand) all of the formulas in the beginning of math destroyer. This includes the unit circle but I think you could leave out some of the polygon stuff. You want to get used to doing the math really fast.

Math destroyer is much harder than the actual QR section. The DAT Destroyer's QR section is much more reflective of the actual QR and is much easier. Try to be conservative when it comes to your math destroyer tests. Also, I would google probability questions until I became very comfortable attempting them.

PM me if you need any advice.

if your having trouble solving some of the problems.... I know I was having difficulty figuring out how to set up the word problems... I would suggest " The Complete Idiot's Guide to Algebra Word Problems" I have Crack DAT math... which I heard was an okay representation of the real DAT's QR... but the explanations just weren't enough for me. That book actually helped me A LOT because ALL of the type of word problems I saw in CDM were demonstrated in the Idiot's Guide!!!! I feel MUCH more confident after having gone through the book (which was free because I got it from my public library)

I heard the real QR has a lot more word problems than CDM (I know that's not the resource your asking about, but maybe it could you too ) 🙂

For tests 1-3 I gave myself 1.5 hrs. I then cut it in half for tests 4/5, and so far my scores have not fallen at all (Averaging a 32 correct per test) FWIW, I consider myself terrible at math, and I have no grasp of trigonometry besides the absolute basic functions. I have to learn the unit circle stuff in the next 18 days but I think I'll be fine.

From what I've heard and others have said, you can get absolutely brutal passages, or completely reasonable ones. But that's the whole DAT...and we're all different.

The time limit is a major concern, but don't forget to take fatigue into account. QR is the very last section, and by then you will be dead tired. I usually got 37+ correct on destroyer within an hour, but on the real thing I was tired, hungry, I ran out of time, and got only 21.
