Hey guys, so i've heard that there are tons of word problems and stuff in the math section on the real dat (taking my real dat on the 27th). I was wondering though, were there also some algebra questions that are easier???? Like basic x+y = blah...and find x or something?

just getting really freaked out about what some people have said about this! I know it will be tough but I hope there are at least 10 - 15 questions like that!

anyone have any comments please??🙂

There does appear to be a trend toward more word problems on the DAT nowadays. Personally, though, I never had much problems with these myself as it is often simply a matter of translating the words into some form of equation. I'd suggest anyone to go find a SAT math book and just simply brush up on the basics of algebra, geometry, arithmetic, and supplement with some fundamental Trig information.

thanks! so even though there are more word problems, are there still also some arithmetic type problems found in achiever and topscore as well as kaplan?

Kaplan online resources have a ton of word problems that are frustratingly hard for me. I can do a lot of the achiever/topscore/destroyer word problems but those Kaplan word problems rip me a new %^#hole. Also Kaplan online doesn't go over any Trig.

the real dat didnt have that many word problems. and when they did it was alot easier than kaplan. just know your trig, algebra, and everything else is good

10-15 easy algebra questions? If that were the case everyone would get above a 20 in the math section. And there is no way you will get 10-15 easy algebra questions neway because if you look at the dat test specifications only 9 questions out of the 40 are alloted to algebra. not trying to scare you or anything but just giving you a more realistic view of the test. good luck

When you say 9 out of 40 questions are algebra, where on the ADA website are you finding that? 😕

hey!

Yeah, I noticed Kaplan didn't have much practice for trig. Do you guys have suggestions on what type of trig. topics we should review, and what sources to use. =)

thank you

Achiever and Topscore have some trig questions, you can practice them but I dont think those alone are enough. Otherwise, the kaplan online midterm (not the subject tests) also have some trig questions I believe.

This is a good link.. which mean I will not spend that much worrying about sick probability.. more time on algebra and word problems.. it should have been limited to 4 word problems... but since such emphasis is placed on RC I can see why they would push the word problems so much....
