Everyone says the Kaplan Math portion is too easy. Is all the math in the Kaplan tests easier than the actual DAT or is it just some parts. I know the Algebra and Arthimetic is too easy. But what about the Geometry and Trigonometry? Thanx

its pretty much the same stealth but it would depend on actual test day... at my test..i t was a little easier than what i had on kaplan tests..

I was getting about an 18 on the Kaplan math portion, and I got a 20 on the real exam. I found that the tests on the computers at Kaplan are a good representative. You know, the ones that they have at the center..you take them on your own. On the real DAT, I only got about 2 trig problems and they dealt with simple identities. Most of it was word problems and I got a lot of algebra.....I would also recommend doing TopScore. Their tests are a bit harder and prepare you better. I was also averaging 18-19 on topscore....so it is somewhat representative of your grade. Just be sure to stay within the time limit because many people run out of time on the real DAT.

Good Luck!

Anyone have any recommendations for a good book that teaches you quant? I have the kaplan book but find it too sparse

I don't know of any books other than Kaplan. If you go through every page, detail by detail in the Kaplan book, you should be okay. That's all I did (along w/ a lot of practice problems). Really, the math just tests you on basic concepts, nothing too tricky I didn't think. One thing that I did that was optional for the trig problems was to write out the unit circle on my paper during my break..I found that it helped me on 1 or 2 trig problems.

Just a side note.
But, overall, the Kaplan book should be okay. It's the only thing I used and it got me a decent score.

I've heard a decent book is examcrackers or something like that. Has a bunch of problems basically.

I did see that, but saw it was Reading Comp and Math...thought it may be simililar and heard from someone it was pretty good.

Oh sorry Zimaad,

Looking at the book now and it does mention math in that verbal book. All it is though, is a brief, BRIEF refresher in math calculations....things like tips on being able to round figures in your head, using exponents to make them easier, etc... but it is NOT adequate for the DAT QR

What about the GRE book from princeton review. Can one prepare for the quantitative portion from that book?

I know the math section should not be that difficult but just wondering about kaplan's topical math test.

I was going through the first Math topical test and the questions were pretty hardcore. For anyone who has taken the DAT and used the kaplan materical can you please get back to me. I was wondering if the real DAT was anything like this? thanx 😕

Yes, I thought the DAT math was just as hard as the Kaplan math. I scored about one point higher on the DAT math portion than I did in Kaplan. Overall, I would say make sure to know how to do the topical tests because it will be very similar to the real DAT.

Just my $0.02
