So I am a sophmore in calc 1 and I have never be good at math. I know a lot of schools like to see students with some calculus. The schools I plan to apply to do not require calc but I was interested and figure what it could it hurt? Well probably my gpa...I got a B minus on my first test and the concepts are not clicking but I do a lot of practice problems. Any suggestions to helplearn calc besides good old khan academy?Well my other question is would a D or C hurt my chances of getting in somewhere even if its not required? I am getting As in physics2, orgo2 and abnormal psych rightnow so hopefully that continues...Do vets even need this much math?

A C won't matter if your other grades are good. My school didn't require calc and I was terrible at it. Requirements were 1 stats course and 1 more math course which could be anything, so I dropped it and took a W. I had two stats courses instead which was far more useful. At no point in vet school did I think 'Wow, I could totes use some calculus right now.'

If the class is going to be an issue, why not just drop the class if you're still in your drop period? If I were applying to schools that didn't require it, I wouldn't have taken it in the first place. One C won't make or break you. One D would be more of a problem, but if you have a 3.6 or higher otherwise, schools would probably think you had one rough class.

But if you can avoid the C/D situation, then avoid it and drop the class if you still can.

Oh gosh, please save yourself the trouble of calculus if you don't need it for vet school! You sound like me. I understand math but I could not get calculus to save my soul. I had to take it for my degree and by some miracle passed with a B. If it's not required, def don't do it. Your other grades are awesome and you're definitely a capable student. You don't need Calc to show that.

I agree with the suggestions to drop if you don't need it. But, make sure your target schools do not require a statics class that has calculus as a pre-req. Specifically, Texas A&M says they do not require calculus, but the stats they require does have calc 1 & 2 as a pre-req. So, it's a bit confusing.
