I am a PhD student trying to develop a mathematical model to analyze medical school acceptances. This will probably be a 3 year research project - which I hope will be published in a top tier academic journal.

I will appreciate hearing from you on the following:

1) Since I know nothing about the field, I first need to interview some experts in the field, maybe 7 to 8 individuals, who will know about how medical schools make acceptance decisions. Would these be Deans? Admission officers? Admission consultants? Authors of books on how to get into medical school? Someone else?

2) I need to know what variables affect rankings of medical schools in the popular media. Any ideas on what these variables might be? {just letting you do my homework for me 🙂 } I want the mathematical model to be as simple and elegant as possible, so I would like as few variables as possible. Suppose (hypothetical!) MCAT scores affect rankings of medical schools and GPA does not affect rankings, would it be unreasonable for me to presume that schools would place more weight on mcat scores than on gpa?

3) Since medical schools discriminate on the basis of residency, I need to identify 3 states where it would be the easiest to get into medical school. Any consensus on which these states are among posters on this forum?

Thank you all.

Aside from states which have access to WICHE and such, I would say that Nevada as a home state may be one of the easier states to get accepted into med school (UNSOM), especially if they expand to 100 students in the next year or so.

Talk to admissions deans and consultants (who are usually former deans). Really anyone who works on an admissions panel should be able to answer your questions.

US News is generally the only ranking body I know of. It lists its selection criteria on the website with the rankings in pretty good detail.

Not to be an ass, but it sounds like you want Personal and professional advice on how it will be the easiest way for you to get acceptance into med school...Easiest states to get in, what deans look for and bla bla bla....BUT, I might be wrong... 😀🙄

:troll:

Lets think about this for a second...this would be the most ridiculous project ever...cause it's 99% subjective
