So I recently got accepted into med school but have only 1 semester of physics with a lab. I really want to enjoy my summer and relax, however 2 semesters of physics with labs is a pre-requisite. Is it possible to get the second semester of physics waived? Has anybody been in this situation before? I am obviously willing to take a summer session of physics if necessary but I already got admitted without it. Any advice would be great.

If the school you've been accepted to explicitly requires 2 semesters of physics + lab, you are expected to complete that before matriculation. The acceptance was made with this understanding.

I'm finishing up a second physics course right now (out of school a while and work full time). I signed up as soon as I got an II to Mt Sinai, which absolutely requires all prerequisites including 2 semesters of physics prior to matriculation. I know some schools require fulfilling the prereqs in like January as opposed to matriculation, it should be on the school's website somewhere. Or just email them. But yeah, if you don't fulfill the prereqs your acceptance is revoked. They don't really check in on you because it's your responsibility :/

Ask them?

If they're the type of place that it is going to be an issue they'll probably catch it anyway.

If they're the type of place that's looser they'll tell you it's not an issue?

You can try contacting the Admissions office and ask them about your situation. It sounds like you will have to take that second semester of Physics though since your admissions offer is often contingent on you completing the pre-requisites by the time you matriculate.

If it is a requirement, you have to take the class. Period. End of story. Don't waste your time asking for an exemption or risking your acceptance on such a minor detail. Just take the class.

True story, my med school required 2 semesters of biochem, which at the time in 2005 was unusual. A kid that I knew in undergrad got accepted early decision, was in the first semester of the biochem course sequence at that point, thought the acceptance was binding and never signed up for the second semester. Shows up for orientation the following August, starts classes, everything seems fine until the day before the first exam 2 weeks in. Yeah, they finalized going through everyone's transcripts that week noted the lack of the second semester of biochem and said "Don't bother showing up for the exam tomorrow." He hired a lawyer who basically said he was SOL. He reapplied the following year and was rejected from my med school citing character/professionalism issues. I think he got rejected at a few other places when they heard the story and eventually ended up going to dental school.
