I wanted to get some tips on maximizing my last 2 weeks before I take the DAT. I'm doing a huge review for few weeks--I studied all last summer.

This is what I'm using to study:

Kaplan class (finished all work)
Cliff Bio (my weakest area, but improving)
Crack PAT (took all tests few times)
DAT Destroyer (the math seems too easy?)
Topscore (from like 2005)

Eating good, sleeping enough, taking breaks, exercise....

I can't believe I'm this close to taking the DAT!!!! Yay! :soexcited:

Be prepared for the math to be harder. By harder im not sure if the math will be harder or the nubmers will be tougher. You can use a calculator now. Get a good sleep for the next couple weeks, lots of protein as well. Make sure you know how to manage your time.
Best of luck.

Edit:
Disreguard the calculator part 🙂
Thats effective March 1st

Yes, the math is a lot harder or it was for me. My test seemed to be composed of numerous lengthy word problems. Be sure to know the statistics formulas. The biology section was really broad and covered a large spectrum. I think this would be the hardest section to prepare for. I studied the kaplan blue book for this. The other science sections seems to be straight forward. Be sure to review the Organic chemistry road maps in DAT destroyer and know this like the back of your hand. RC section is also straight forward. Just search and destroy and road map the passage. Crack PAT is a great resource which helped significantly. Good luck

wait is the math section format already changed? I thought the new format starts in march. no???

and stats on math? god.... 🙁 kaplan bb doesnt have anything stats. does it...

Yes the DAT has statistics on it. This includes combinations, permutations, mean, median, and mode. I don't think kaplan bb covers it to the extent in which you need to know it. I took my DAT in may 2009, and it seems to me, there were approximately 5 to 10 questions on stats. Also, for biology know the laws of thermodynamics, and genetics probability.

Thanks everyone for the tips.

I took the Kaplan class and I have tons of workshops, quizzes and exams with permutations. Some are way too long--like a whole page to solve them....but hey, no complains, the more pain now the better later, right?

I like the Destroyer math explanations more than the Kaplan class, but then destroyer seems too easy.....

I'll keep practicing.....and chewing biology.....

are you talking about the one at the end of the actual math destroyer or the one that end of the regular destroyer book?

Good luck on studying in the last two weeks im in the less than two weeks zone now and im panicking but u seem to be excited lol thats really good but im terrified of the math i got math destroyer to help me out i dont think the math is easy anywhere but the more exposure you get to the problems the better off you will be the math destroyer problems are more challenging than than the regular problems but they all build up and start making more sense after you get thru all the tests which is like 10 tests so you get used to the problems and start doing them better but theres a wide variety in all those practice tests.......Keep up everything do everything you can and take practice tests everyday best of luck!

The regular destroyer--by the way my destroyer is from August 2007! I honestly don't see any difference between the math from Kaplan class and destroyer. So I'm OK working with the older version.....all the explanations are great & so clear that my brain gets it. Kaplan explanations makes my hair look like a rainbow!

I'm getting more and more excited about taking the exam, and I can't wait to see my scores. Keep practicing and do activities to relax....a huge part of our score is managing our mental stress. Keep good thoughts coming through your head as you study. Do force yourself to get up from your studying every 50 mins for 10 mins.....then go back--after 4 hrs take 1 hr break. We need a healthy amount of adrenaline but too much is not good--maybe your nerves now are nothing but that 👍

Take one practice test per day for the 5 days leading up to the exam (and don't be discouraged about your scores). Great practice for test day momentum. You know the stuff by now, it will just steer you in specific focus areas. I did it, and I think it helped me a ton.

AA 22, TS 23, PAT 20

Great! I will do that! The QR was my weakest area, and just got 22 on topscore.....the biology section is all over and I have a hard time with some subjects. I think Kaplan was not effective for me as Topscore and destroyer...

Agree about BIO....I used all Kaplan bio stuff, memorized flashcards and then ALL approx 350 questions (if I remember # correctly) from Destroyer a few times over in the days before the test....BIO 22 on test day. It is all over the place but Destroyer is good for it.

I used destroyer for Gen Chem too. Focus on conceptual (only NON time-intensive/calc ?'s) to gain speed at thinking about Gen Chem so it is second nature...It's ok to take time for GC calculation questions, but so many GC ?'s are short non-calculation type.

Good luck and don't think about practice test scores...just think about completing full tests each day as I said. You will be happy with result.
