Hey everyone. I have been reading some of the MD posts and a lot of members keep mentioning May 15th. What is the significance of this date? I am assuming it has something to do with allopathic students having to decide which school they are going to attend but I'd like to know for sure. Also, I'm curious if this deadline applies to osteopathic school as well? Thanks so much.

May 15th is the day that applicants holding multiple acceptances must decide on only one. All of us waitlisters can't wait for this day to pass so that medical schools actually know who thier base cohort is and hopefully start to pull from thier waitlists.
Come on Touro and COMP!! I turn a year older two weeks prior to the big deadline!! Give me a belated bday present!! I want to go to school!!!

I've been waiting for that date, ever since all the schools I interviewed with decided to waitlist me. Question: Is that the deadline for all? Even for VCOM? They were accepting secondaries until April 15th! I'm pretty sure they'll be interviewing until at least June! Does anyone know whether that's a deadline for all the schools or if it depends on each school?

Stay cool and keep waiting😎I read thru the AAMC website once about the deadline once and they had to put in a deadline to force people to pick a school. They consider it "unethical" to hold multiple positions after this date and as such AAMCAS "supposedly" has a list that they send out to each of the school for every student that is accepted and if a student is still holding more than one spot after this date, they have the right to take back their offer of acceptance and give it to another.
Unfortunately, this only applies to allopathic schools. Each osteopathic school has their own deadlines. Usually there is some kind of tuition deposit due date that is in addition to the acceptance deposit deadline. For many school it may be May 15th but you would need to check with each individual school to know for sure. TUCOM has a May 15th deadline.
