So while flipping through my wallet a couple of minutes ago I found a complimentary card that I was given at one of my interviews. It turns out that the person I spent most of my day with is the Associate Director of admissions. I had absolutely no idea. He was so young and informal I would never have guessed. If I had known I would have tried to be more composed. I'm usually excited about little things and I went on and on about the beauty of the campus and the neighborhood in which the school was situated. This is not bad but sounds very superficial and vain (methinks). If only I had known, I would much rather have told him about my genuine interest in their program.
That is the long preamble to my question; Are directors of admission on the admissions committee? 🙁
This is very disheartening

buddy, let me put it this way...

they carry the weight of the committee with them 😳 )

dude, it's better that he saw the real you, than, a perky guy who acted that he was intereted....

besides he gave u his card? now wouldn't that be a good sign?

This is very disheartening•••••I would think that he's on the committee.

However, I actually think you did well in talking about the beauty of the campus. It makes it seem like you would genuinely be comfortable there, and I'm sure he detected the sincerity in your tone and body language. Personally, I suck at interviews (getting better), but if I meet a doctor who has no influence on my application outside the medical school (as happened at MCPH), I leave a great impression. You probably did as well.

Mamboking and waitingimpatiently. Thanks for the input.
I am however, genuinely interested in their curriculum. It couldn't have hurt to channel my excitement in that direction. Secondly, I believe complimentary cards are only a formality. So i wouldn't get overly excited about that.
here is a lil twist to the tale. At the end of the day he was so nice as to offer me an umbrella with his alma mata's insignia on it ( I din't have one with me). Here is what he said, "You can return that to me if you get in"
The question is: how much does he like the umbrella  ?

I think that it could have been better that you didn't know his position because you were probably more relaxed and informal when you talked to him (assuming you didn't say anything bad about the school!)

be sure to post this in the Interview Nightmares thread -_-

no seriously, if any impression, you must have made a good one. The umbrella gift is an obvious good indication.

Hopefully he can put in a few good words for you during the selection 🙂
