I just took my DAT last week and was a little confused on some of the PAT questions. You know how on hole-punching questions, if a part of the squre is folded, the next image will represent the missing part (due to folding) with dashed lines on the border? Well, I had questions where the only difference between before and after folding were a straight line drawn across the middle. Say you have a quarterd square after two foldings, and the next image was exactly same size square, but a straight line drawn across the middle and no dashed lines to show if that square have been folded again. What does that mean? Does that mean that the square was folded and opened back up so to make a line in the middle? If so, I've never encounterd any questions like that before. I had 3 questions like that and maybe getting those right could have raised my score of 19 to 20..

Also, I was expected to be given paper and pencil during the test, but instead was given 2 markers, and 8 by 11 size erasable board. Those markers were horrible becuase if you left it open during thinking or reading and what not, they would not write, so you have to close that one and open the other one to write,(if you'd remembered to close the other marker that is). That was really time consuming. Also, some of the notes I took during RC were erased from placing my hand on the board. And they write SOOO big!! 😡

Sorry to have taken so much of your time...

hi there,

i was given eraseable boards too! it was those yellow ones with the graphs right? i actually requested paper and pencil, but the test proctor person said no. so i had no choice, but i know what you mean about those markers losing ink if your put them out in the air too long! I took my test in glendale, ca. did you happen to take it there too? oh, also i was hoping to use paper for the pat section to fold but those boards were too stiff 😳 LOL>!

eraseable boards??? Are you guys kidding?

Geez, if that happens to me, Im a dead man.

I was almost given those boards during my test too. I asked the lady to double check. There was no way I was going to have an erasable board. I think another one of ADA's tests uses this. Just make sure you don't get screwed because of a mistake.

I remember when I first took it a few years ago... when they first went to using computers... they gave me paper ...but only 2 sheets at a time... and to make things worst.. they gave me one of those old school type wooden pencil... only one... and when they broke.. I had to run to the proctor ...who is located on the other side of a big window... get her attention ... and signal that I need another pencil....and they broke alot during the test.... oh yeah the sheets they gave us... was pretty much half a sheet because half the space was typed with the sylvan learning center logo and some disclaimer against cheating...

Now after reading the above post... I think I would o sh$t my brickets if that happened to me... wow!

This would suck cuz I write big!

I think it's best to prepare for the worst.... and hope for the best....

I had the same type of issues on the PAT on 8/10 ! Not sure what that meant. There was no way to tell where it was folding from.

hey Nhp3142! my test was on the same day of 8/10!! I took mine in Atlanta, Ga. Where did you take yours? Do you think there could've been a mistake on those sections on that day? If so, should we do something about it?

Considering that I am taking the DAT in a week... I called ADA about this issue... they were kinda surprised or even kinda shocked to hear that some had to use dry erase boards... but they didn't deny or agree with the fairness of it... they just gave me numbers to prometrics... so basically my buck was passed...
