Another self-serving, neurotic thread to add...

Do I interviewed onsite at Mayo on Dec. 13. Yesterday, I got an e-mail from Mayo saying that my rank had been determined, and my standing would be determined at the next meeting.

For those who interviwed at Mayo way before me, what does this mean? Did everyone get this email? And have they started rejecting post-interview or what? How many people have been accepted here? And what happened to the rest? Have y'all been waitlisted or held or what?

Sorry for the confusing flood of questions, I'm not very coherent right about now. All those fantasies about being able to pay back my loans by the end of residency...

I interviewed at Mayo ages ago... like in Sept. I got that e-mail too... about a 2 weeks after I interviewed. Mayo is kinda annoying with it's e-mails. They like to send you meaningless vague e-mails that leave you fustrated and confused. I've learned to ignore all my Mayo e-mails. I suggest you do the same. Eventually they have to reject us or accept us. I've heard of one person getting accepted to Mayo... but I haven't heard of any post-interview rejections or waitlists yet.

Good luck 🙂

Damnit, I was afraid I was going to hear that.

Seems a ton of people here interviewed onsite at Mayo, and all we have to show for it is one acceptance?

I did meet another person at one of my interviews who'd claimed to have been accepted at Mayo. Not only that, but she'd been offered a full-ride as well.

Back to gritting my teeth.

im in the same spot but one month removed; i interviewed nov 8 and recieved that email dec12 or so. i am under the impression that the com meets once a month (looks like somewhere around the first ten days of the month) and will email decisions after the following meeting. but i am discouraged to hear the a sept interviewee has not heard anything yet- maybe i will call and repost tomorrow if i find out anything new.

I too interviewed in Sept onsite and keep getting these meaningless messages saying I'm "ranked". Is that their way of saying "YOU SUCK!" ? Not 4real though...just frustrated with this whole process. I'm trying to forget I ever applied.😉

copying from the Mayo website about the admissions process:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once an applicant has completed the standardized telephone and on-campus interviews, his or her application and qualifications are presented to the Admissions Committee for further discussion and deliberation.

The Admissions Committee meets weekly from October through March to review and rank each candidate.

During the admissions cycle, a periodic review of all ranked candidates will occur every four to six weeks, at which time several appointment offers are made.

Those applicants not receiving appointments during this review will receive notification of their "hold status."

During each subsequent periodic review, however, all previously reviewed applicants remain eligible to receive appointment offers.

This periodic and "rolling" admissions process allows for all applicants to remain active for admissions consideration, irrespective of their interview dates.
