I searched for this, but the only thread I found was regarding the residency options.

I applied to Mayo (MN), but I'm still adding a few schools and wanted to know if people ever apply to both the MN campus and the AZ campus? As a Floridian, I would prefer the weather in AZ, but as a medical student, I would definitely prefer the MN campus. Thoughts from those in the know?

@thenucleusaccumbens would be able to give you more perspective. As an AZ resident, I've done programs at Mayo AZ and I did a program at Mayo MN too. The consensus is that they are one unified national medical school with multiple campuses. With that being said the associate dean told me that they two separate admissions committees. So if you like the AZ location there's no reason to not apply!🙂

This is anecdotal but most of the interviewees I met this year did seem to apply to both campuses, which is probably because a lot of people just like Mayo and want to increase their odds. Although I also know people who were accepted and had only applied to one campus. chromium surfer is correct - Mayo Clinic School of Medicine is considered one national medical school, but the admissions committees for MN and AZ are separate, so one could be accepted by both campuses and then have a choice. Both campuses have exactly the same curriculum and students have opportunities to do selectives (in 1st and 2nd year), rotations (3rd and 4th year) and research at any Mayo campus (including the one in Florida). They actually strongly encourage us to take advantage of the other campuses and give funding so we can do so.

Let me know if you have any other questions about Mayo!

Perfect - thanks so much! I had a friend who did RadOnc residency in Florida, and I have been treated in FL as well. I LOVE Mayo and actually applied to the AZ campus this morning. I'll think of some questions and send them your way!
