Here's an e-mail I received from Mayo today:

B]Unfortunately, the letter you received recently from Mayo Medical School did not state the correct reason for the rejection of your application. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. The following is the correct letter:[/B]

As if it wasn't bad enough being rejected once. You have to rub it in and tell me I was rejected again. The funny thing is that the even the e-mail they sent was the wrong letter. It spoke of my phone interview, but I never had one! So I called them up (just to check) and they said that they would send another e-mail out, just so I was ABSOLUTELY sure I was rejected. I told them not to bother, 2 rejections were more than enough +pissed+

I am sure Mayo did not have cruel intentions...at least they told you why you were rejected! I am sure many other schools will see positive aspects in your application!

Good Luck,

Rocco

Heh, I got the same email just now... but I have not received the rejection letter yet. Oh well, I hear that phone interview is kinda creepy anyway.

That's nothing...when I was a freshman, I had an older roommate who was applying to graduate school in physics. One week, he received a rejection letter from Harvard's program, read it, then threw it in the trash b/c he really wanted to go to Princeton. Then every week or so for a couple months he would get another copy of the exact same Harvard rejection in the mail. We all began to suspect that this so-called "Harvard" is just a P.O. box in Boston that sends out rejection letters.

Same story. Rejection letter in the snail mail. Then an e-mail stating the "correct" rejection letter. I didn't even have to call...
Kinda feel down.
Snail mail rejection was expected. When I got the e-mail though, I sort of got my hopes up.

this only reaffirms my belief that mayo is the most evil and vile of the medical schools: i mean what other school ask for 75 dollars just to put you through their screening formula for a secondary. that's just cheap, especially considering the fact that they are one of the nation's richest medical institutions. I'm glad I'm not going there.

Ah yes, but this is the American way, after all... milking and manipulation.

I loved the Mayo process for although you have to pay, there is not another "put the same stuff that is on AMCAS again just for us" secondary to fill out. Although paying does not guarantee getting to the secondary phone interview stage it is pretty painless.....IMHO.

Yes, that's obvious. But your point is...?

I just don't like how people suddenly "hate" a school because they didn't get any "love" from them. You obviously liked the school somewhat to apply, bashing them because they rejected you is just trying to justify why you didn't get in i.e. "thats a crappy school, i didnt want to go there anyway" Thats just unecessary.

btw: michigan state also requests money before they'll review your app.

What's the average MCAT score for Mayo? Does anybody know how long it takes for them to process the applications? I'm sick of waiting!!!😡

I am not sure but it is probably on their website somewhere....but no news is better than bad news right? by the way if it has been a ton of time call Jane.

When I spoke with them last, I was told it takes them 6 weeks to process applications since the day of completion. I believe them, since I got my rejection letter exactly 6 weeks after completion.
