efex101,

I'd love to come to Mayo for both its class size, world class hospitals for rotations, and as you mentioned, a fantastic crowd. But for those 42 seats, is it too late to apply? They don't wait until all applications are in at deadline and start making decisions on secondaries, do they? What do they do for applications that won't have MCAT scores until mid October (my case). What do you suggest? I know I can ask the admission office these questions, but feels like to get some input from someone applied ang got in. I am also a non-tra, have been and still is working in the semiconductor industry. Thanks in advance.

You are in no way late to apply so for sure consider Mayo. They just started interviewing recently from my knowledge but I could be wrong because I have not seen too many "suits' walking around yet...so do not worry that the seats will be taken. It is a rolling school so the sooner you get your stuff in the better but you are fine. As they get AMCAS they will then ask all applicants for the Mayo fee (not sure what it is now) then, later they will invite you to do the secondary which is a phone interview much better than typing IMHO. AFter the phone interview some will be asked for an on-site one, and then at certain intervals the adcoms get together and choose candidates. Now, some candidates do not get chosen until later, so for example you may interview in September and go through adcom review in October, nothing happens but your file is not immediately dismissed then you come up for review in December and may actually get accepted then OR you can go to review again. They will wait until MCAT scores for the most part, so until they see your score they would probably not do much but if you send in now that is ALL you are waiting for. I would actually call Jane Satre (very nice lady btw) and ask her all this again and see if there is any discrepancies from my view to the real deal. Good luck and if you have more questions let me know!

Thanks for the advice, hopefully I will have many questions in the near future (not get rejected too soon).
