Hey Guys! I just want to say thank you in advance.

I applied last cycle to my state M.D. school and didn't get in. My stats are:

3.39 cGPA, 3.14 sGPA. 27 MCAT (7/11/9).

This cycle, after a lot of guidance (Thank you SDN) I am applying to 29 D.O. schools. I decided to retake the MCAT this Friday in order to improve my score for my in-state M.D. school. However, I do not feel prepared, but I have already submitted my AACOMAS application with a blank MCAT spot for 06/19. Since I have submitted my application and gotten it verified, I cannot remove the blank test. I plan on voiding this Friday. Is there anything else I can do?

Nothing really. You should be fine, although I'm a little worried about your sGPA. Nothing you can do about that so it is fine.

Leave your application as is.

Yeah, just leave the application as is. I don't see M.D. being realistic with your GPAs. 27 MCAT is fine for D.O. though. Applying to 29 schools, you should get love somewhere.

Thanks for the input guys! What about the blank MCAT on the application? Should I try to contact AACOMAS to remove that, or will my application not be held up because of that?

You can ask AACOMAS what to do about that. It might be easier to ask them instead of medical schools asking you about your score that you won't have.

29?! schools. Thats almost every DO school in the country.

At least you'll get in somewhere

Are your ECs decent?

Yes! I believe I have excellent ECs. I've had a full time job for the last 9 years, but in addition to that I have shadowing, research, volunteer hours (>500 clinical, >1,000 non-clinical) and tons of leadership roles and involvement in the community.

I got off the phone from AACOMAS. They said they cannot remove the blank test score. Will this hold up my application? I mean, I am verified so I should still receive secondaries. Should I tell each and every school individually that I am not taking that MCAT? Sorry for being so overbearing; this process is getting to me and it's only 06/17.

Hi! I did this last year. I had a scheduled MCAT retake for July that I put on AACOMAS as a planned test, and ended up deciding not to sit for the exam. I know it's a lot of work, but I did end up calling every single school and letting them know that I had canceled my test. Some schools were able to make a note right then and there on the phone, while others requested that I send a brief email so that it could be noted in writing in my file. I was a little stressed that this would look like a big black mark on my file, but it turned out not to be an issue 🙂

God bless you and thank you!

No problem, and good luck to you. Just as a thought, since it's so early in the cycle (mine was a bit later), you may want to wait until you're sure that schools have actually received your application before calling. It could be overly complicated to try calling now and have schools tell you "What? We haven't even downloaded applications yet!"

Excellent point. I'll make sure to do that. Also- Congratulations on being accepted into the Class of 2019!

So I just noticed something. I had a blank test date for 06/19 set up (today). I voided, but on my pdf files the blank test score isn't even showing up under the unofficial scores. In addition, the CCOM secondary page shows my July 2014 MCAT as received, and shows no mention of 06/19. Should I not worry about this anymore?

Don't worry about it 👍
