I'm currently scheduled to take the MCAT on July 6th, so that theoretically my application could be verified and sent as early as August 7th. I'm giving serious consideration to pushing my MCAT back. I feel like I could use the extra month of studying, specifically deferring to the July 26th MCAT date.
Does anyone know if late August is too late to get into the application cycle? I figured that, assuming a decent MCAT score (my GPAs are competitive), that the early August application wouldn't be too bad. I have friends who have gotten in applying much later and I know that DO schools tend to close their applications late.
Any thoughts on this? Does pushing my MCAT back to late July, with a late August completion date put me at a significant disadvantage for getting an interview? I know that my application will be "verified" much earlier than this, but obviously a decision wouldn't come until that MCAT score is obtained. My letters, transcripts, etc are all pretty much taken care of, so the MCAT is the last piece of the puzzle.
I appreciate any thoughts, concerns, or constructive comments.
