I'm pretty sure alot of schools don't accept the January MCAT.

If you're sure you won't do well, then wait. But if you're looking at DO and think you can make around a 28, you'd be sitting pretty. Some schools take around a 25 as well.

I submited AACOMAS in middle October, was verified like the end of November. There's still plenty of time for AACOMAS.

some of them that do take the january mca..t would it be smart to take the september MCAT and void it if i feel under prepared and then take it again in january but submit those for the 2010-2011 cycle or would it be too late?

You still have time to prepare, it's still August!! Study hard... reason why I say this is because everyone feels unprepared for the MCAT. I recommend you don't void, and just go with your score. If you don't do well (26+), then retake in january. If anything, it will show improvement in your MCAT score.

Don't go into the exam with the idea you're going to void. I did that when I took the MCAT last January (early, I know), but retook in May because I voided even though I shouldve got my january score graded.

Just some personal experience advice... lol

Goodluck!

Have you taken any full length practice exams? I know they are not a great gauge but they can help. If you are getting mid twenties and above then go for it. If after studying and taking some practices you are not scoring above low twenties you might want to take some more time. Also, do not get discouraged by a low practice score, I took a practice two days before I took the MCAT's the first time and scored a 24. Two days later I scored a 27.
