If you're late coming back from your break, does the section start without you? I think some people before told me that it doesn't, but I just called the aamc and was told it does start if you're not back in ten minutes? 😕

I've always thought it won't start without you. However, I'm sure it does start if you take a 30+ minute break (which a friend of mine did as an extreme family emergency came back) instead of a 12 minute break.

😕 Did she get pregnant? Otherwise you're isolated from the outside world once the exam starts until it ends so it's impossible to get any information from the outside world unless you are breaching the agreement contract you sign before taking the exam

The whole concept of the break seems ******ed...

They give you this 10 minute countdown clock of doom...then when I ran back into the room freaking out cause I had to take a long dump- it was just sitting there waiting lol...

Better than it starting w/o me

lmaoo did the MCAT scare you that much ahahhaha jkk  So, you went over the 10 minute limit?

i duno how long until they cut u off, but u can definitely take more than 10 min. i'd say at least 15 is 100% safe, past that i'd assume is safe too but i don't have personal verification...

i took the mcat last year and you can take as long as you want...I took about 15-20min breaks in between sections to go to the bathroom, regroup, mentally prepare and rest, etc.

the only thing is that the people who oversee the test takers might get suspicious if you are taking your sweet time during the breaks. they keep track who started at what time during the day....so if someone who started later then you ends up finishing the MCAT before you did then this might draw some unwanted attention from the people who run your testing center.

if you need more then 10 mins go ahead but don't abuse the system....the test will always be there waiting for you to hit "next" so that you can start the next section.
