I know I’ll probably get a lot of hate for this thread but I’m wondering which MCAT scores have more value due to appraisal errors. Ex. I remember the big ones for SAT were always 2350, 2250, 2000, 1750. For example going from a 2300 to 2350 is more valuable than going from 2100 to 2150. What are these for the MCAT in your opinion?

Not sure exactly what you're asking. At least at my school the "tiers" are 520-522, 522-524, 525-528. If you ask other people they'll say anything above 520 is the same.

>500, 500 - 506, 506 - 509, 510 - 512, 513 - 515, 516 - 518, 518 - 520, 520 - 523, 524+

Those are my 'tiers' when looking at WAMC threads and recommending school lists.

These are close to mine:
500-502 502-503 504-505 506-507 508-509 509-511 512-513 514-515 516+ 517+

These numbers are meaningless unless you look at individual school's medians, as well as 10th and 25th %iles.

518 belongs to 2 different tiers?

That was a typo, but to justify my own mistake I will say yes. 518 is the border between "great" and "fantastic" and a 518 from a low GPA applicant may salvage a meh GPA, but a 518 from a high GPA applicant just makes them one of the rest of them. That is enough BS for the day.

This. Even then, different combinations of different stats in different percentiles yields varying applicants and school lists. ie. I am 0 - 25% in cGPA, 25 - 75% MCAT, and 90%+ sGPA at most of my school list, so it really is school specific how you evaluate your own stats...

And even then cGPA is not a monolithic number. if has a bad FR year but stellar in SO, JR and SR, and the cGPA is still in 25th %ile, the candidate is more likely to be viewed as having a much higher cGPA by a decent number of schools.
