Hi everyone,

My only MCAT score is from July 2010:

1) Which is the last application cycle (the last summer) I can apply for my MCAT score to still be valid?

2) Assuming that the limit is 3 years, is it looked down upon to use an MCAT exam score for an application cycle during the last year you are able to use it? In other words, if the score is still in the range of validity, does it matter that the score is at the end of this range?

3) Is the 3 year limit from the time you've taken the exam to when you apply or matriculate or ...?

4) Lastly, I know that most schools have a 3 year limit, can you recall any schools that have 2 year limits?

My plan is to apply not this summer, but next summer (the summer of 2012). I am really hoping that my score will be valid at this time point, but I need to make a decision very soon on whether I need to take the exam again this summer, so any help would be very very much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

1) It depends. Some schools say that it has to be 3 years from when you submit your application or three years from when you matriculate. Either way, if you apply in 2012 you should be fine.

2) No

3)Answered above. Check with the schools you're most interested in.

4) The AAMC itself doesn't expire your score for three years. It's not the individual schools that decide. So no.

Thanks for your replies. Is there any else that can provide any confirmation on this?

It's not that I don't believe you, it's just that some admissions offices I have called are giving me conflicting information and telling me that the summer of 2012 would be too late (despite their 3 year limit), whereas others are confirming what you're saying...

Thanks again.
