Hello,

I am currently enrolled in a post-bacc program beginning in August, Fall 2016. It's a certificate in Biomedical sciences program designed to help raise my undergraduate GPA. My last semester of the program will be Spring 2017. I haven't taken Biochemistry yet but all other prerequisites have been taken. I will be taking
Biochem I in August. When should I start studying for the MCAT/ take the MCAT? I assume the soonest I would be able to enter DO school would be Fall of 2018? Any guidance would be great.

Thanks!

If you are trying to matriculate Fall 2018, then you should be preparing to take the MCAT in May 2017.

It might be a better route for you to apply for the 2017-2018 application cycle. Studying for the MCAT while taking pre-reqs (during your post-bacc) won't put you in a good position.

Focus on acing your post-bacc classes right now that will put you in the best position to succeed.

^ Agreed. As someone in an academic enhancing program currently, do not try and study for the MCAT while taking those courses. You NEED the highest GPA possible in your program, and you do not want to sacrifice that by attempting to do too many things at once.

My final semester will be Spring 2017 at the beginning of May. I would have to study during the beginning of the Spring semester to take it by May 2017 regardless. Correct me if I'm wrong?

If I take the MCAT in May 2017. Could I apply to enter in the Fall of 2018 after receiving scores ?

So regardless I'll have to study during the post bacc? I'm free this summer but it might be pointless studying this far in advance.

I took the Pre 2015 MCAT but if there is a verbal like section that might be the only thing you could prepare for that far ahead. Personally that was the hardest part to improve because the only way you could really get better was just reading dense text.

It would be a better idea to go to the MCAT forum and ask because I have no clue.
