My wife received her scores last night and she is not happy about her results. 12VR 10BS 10PS 32N. Her overall GPA with a B.S. in Biology is 3.6 with a science cumulative of around 3.3. She has research experience with her current employment (a biomed testing company that produces blood testing equipment and panels.) She also is volunteering at UCD transplant center but has not been doing it for very long.

She is very disappointed in her performance on the MCAT, hoping for at least a 34 and at least a Q on the writing. Her goal is a family practice specialty and she would like to go to UCD. Any comparative experiences?

I'm going to assume your concerns are legitimate, and that your wife is actually depressed about the scores. With that said, I scored a 32P (by the way no one evaluates the WS portion of the test, so that N really does mean anything; even if it was a T... ). I got 8 interviews, 3 of which were at UC schools. Tell her not to worry, and that if she is talking about retaking the MCAT, tell her it is not worth it. Go with the score she has. I'm sure she'll do fine. 👍 :luck:

Oh, and if you're wondering why I ended up in Ohio. It was for financial and research related reasons. Again, good luck.

there is no reason to be dissapointed about her score. she should be proud of herself. all these ppl are freaking out about these realllly good scores and I feel bad for them. tell her to be excited!!! great job!!

Uhh... well, I'm headed to Davis in the fall with my 29R. It doesn't seem like anyone cares very much about the writing score, especially if your PS is decent. You can go to mdapplicants.com and do a search for all the profiles of people accepted to UCD. Davis seems to look at a lot more than numbers and from what I have observed they take a very diverse class. So I wouldn't really think that her score would be a big deal. A 32 is a good score, especially her verbal score. I wouldn't stress over it. Apply early, and write thoughtful responses on their massive secondary and then prepare to wait.. their admissions offive is kinda disorganized. It's really hard to judge who will get... it's a crapshoot. Good luck 🙂

Tell your wife her MCAT score is Great!!! With her MCAT score and GPA I think she has a very good chance at getting into medical school. If I was her there is no way I would retake the MCAT. Her score is good as is, if she is truelly worried tell her to call the schools that she is applying to and get some advice, she could always apply in the fall and retake the august or april mcat just in case. But I think she did great!! 🙂 👍

I would say she would be competitive at Davis. A 32N is an excellent score and Davis really likes a well-rounded student. I don't think she should be so hard on herself. She did great on the MCAT and she should apply to Davis.

I believe your wife has a very good chance at UCD. 32N is very good.

Good luck.

Thank all of you very much for your encouragement!

I know it is a great score.. I think for her, it was the effort of time she put in studying to try and reach a couple points of improvement (all of her practice tests were around 31-33.)

I believe the average MCAT is 32ish at Davis and the average gpa is 3.6ish, which means she is at about the level of the average matriculant on those two metrics. However, her 3.3 science gpa is a little weak unless it's from an elite university. She certainly has a decent shot, but, as honest people will tell you, Cali schools are pretty competitive, as well as somewhat random, so she really should have some back-up plans and not get her heart set on Davis.

A 32 is a good score, but the UC system is hard to judge. Like others said its a crapshoot, I had 36N and 3.5 gpa got into no UC except were I'm at.

Are you kidding. 32N is great. If 32 is around the average score at UCD like a previous poster said then you should be an above average candidate applying there. Looking at MCAT only of course. We must see beyond the numbers. Numbers get you an interview. You get yourself into medschool.

BTW I got a 32N, and I couldn't be happier.

What the F*(&K is wrong with you guys? I think I've been on SDN for too long because my tolerance for this Sh(* is diminishing.

Worried about a 32. Man people need to be smacked. Wake up.

A 32 won't open door and it won't close them. It's a good score. It's a very good score. That's it.

There are people getting into programs with 27, 28, 29...We just keep going over this BS all the time. My penis is 9 inches. Is that enough? Am I too small?

only 9in
I think if you had a 9.1in penis you would have a greater chance of getting laid.
