So I'm starting to get secondary applications back, but a lot of schools are waiting for my mcat scores.

I take the MCAT this friday and am a little worried about how I will do. I've not exactly had the best time studying. The MCAT is the last thing I have left before my application is truly complete.

Should I immediately sign up for the early Sept MCAT after I take the test this Friday? Kind of wondering how I should proceed?

You won't have your score back by early Sept so that is a waste. If you don't feel prepared, push back your test date until Early Sept. Try to take the test once and only once. Taking it twice 2 weeks apart is worthless to you since you won't even know how you did on the first one.

That is true but AAMC has Sept 11th as the last day to take the test. So am I out of luck if I bomb this?

It is the last date for this cycle. So yes, if you want to apply you've only got one shot but honestly if I were you if you don't feel prepared for this Friday take it in Sept. The worst thing you could possibly do is take it this friday, then take it again sept 11th and bomb both. In fact it may even be worse if you take it friday and score higher than expected and then do worse on the 11th. I'd pick one date you feel you would be most prepared and take it a single time if I were you. If you don't do well, take it again in January and make sure it goes up.

The retake idea is moot anyway, since you have to wait a month before retaking. I agree, push it back if you're not prepared.

Thanks, wasn't aware of that rule. Only took the test once.

OP, if you don't feel you are ready, definitely push back the test. Don't go in unprepared. You have to wait until January to re-take regardless of test date.
