I took the June 21st mcat after studying for 4 months and signed up for a retake on the 25th. Depending on score I may/may not actually take the 25th exam. As of now I'm assuming I will be, so have continued studying.

I'm thinking I'm just going to go through TPRH Workbook and do as many passages as possible (with review). Think knocking out 120 passages (~1000 questions) will be an effective use of my time?

For reference my AAMC average was 30...while I think I could do more content review, the June 21st test made me think the current iteration of the MCAT is less about content and more about learning how to find details in the passage...hence my current plan.

Any opinions are welcome - thank you!

I would say take a practice test or two in this time, you want to make sure you are familiar and able to sit through 4 hours when it comes test time. That will help you mentally prepare so you do not become exhausted during the exam. Along with practices, passages will help you a lot as well. Make sure you focus on the passages that are giving you the most trouble. The TPRH sections off each topic and outlines where they are in the book nicely, so use that to your advantage and focus on your weak points.

If there are concepts you still really do not understand, I suggest spending around half a day solely on that topic and really nailing it down. I tried to do this for topics I struggled with and it really helped me.

Going to take the free gold standard exam...then probably do aamc #11 again...not overly worried about stamina, mainly concerned about content holes...hoping mass passage practice/review fills the gaps though..

Why would you retake a test you've already taken?

If you are looking for one more final bit of exposure to AAMC material before your test I would purchase the AAMC Self Assessments! TONS of review for you.. hitting basically every concept

Have already done those too unfortuantely. I just found 11 most like the real thing, so thought going through it again would familiarize myself with the nuances of the most current exam...seems like thatd be better than just going into it cold without any AAMC review.

Oh yes, I would agree then.

Let me ask you then... I am about 3 weeks out from my MCAT. Would you suggest doing AAMC 11 right now vs closer to test date to familiarize myself with the nuances of the current exam?

I would say wait until about 4 days before the exam to take it..then heavily review the next day. Honestly though, even 11 was nothing like the beast that surfaced on 6/21...

Have you done the official guide to the MCAT 3rd edition passages? If so, how did it stack up to the real exam?
