MCAT in April 04

im gearing up for the MCAT in april 04 and was wondering if that would allow me to apply to the entering med school i choose of 2004?

im still not 100% sure of the process/order .. can someone please just make it super simple?

is it ;

1. finish degree (biology, chem. whatever), get as HIGH a G.P.A. as possible (min. of 3.2 to be competitve)

2. study for and take some mcat preps/sample tests. Take MCAT. (hopefully score 30 + )

3. Complete and send in the AMCAS application with LOR's, and transcripts (how will the school i send my app. to get my mcat score???)

then from there im confused...do we send secondaries? interviews first?

Hi,

I was a little confused by your question, but since it got no replies yet, i thought I'd answer as best I could.

Taking the April '04 MCAT will prepare you to apply in June '04 for med school admission of fall '05.

You should not finish your degree before taking your MCAT unless you are willing to lose a few years. Most traditional students take MCAT in Jr. year (assuming you have taken most the pre-reqs by this time-Bio, Chem, OChem, Phys).

I say review for MCAT while your taking pre-req's just to get an idea of what you'll need to recall, but save major studying for the few months right before the test.

Get your LORs ASAP. meaning now if you have a prof in mind to get one from.

The year you apply (june '04-mar/april 04) is when you will be interviewing etc. I'm not sure of the process after this point, as I too am looking to take the MCAT in 4/04.....

that actually helped so now i have an idea to focus on LOR's for now and lightly skim thru MCAT material

so its primaries, secondaries, followed by interviews if you are blessed enough. some schools dont screen you after primaries, so almost all apps get secondaries so they can rake in the cash. you send in your LOR for secondaries, and thats about all i know. good luck
