I am not sure if I will apply to the 2014 or 2015 cycle but from what I remember if you are applying for the 2015 cycle or later, is it required that you take the new MCAT? or med schools will take scores from the old MCAT?

To be honest I might try to do a Special Master's Program (SMP) and I know from what I read they or most of them require MCAT scores so I think I may take the present MCAT.

Does anyone know if maybe the present ,up to date editions of the The Berkeley Review and EXAMcracker MCAT books still be helpful for the New MCAT?

The writing section will be removed before the 2015 MCAT. Everything else should be the same.

Moved to MCAT Disc.

You may apply in 2015 or later with scores from the current MCAT. Test prep companies will likely release new material for for the 2015 MCAT format and topics, though many of the current topics will still be testable and the present prep materials will still be of value in learning these topics.
