Hi all,

I have posted a few times regarding my MCAT progress but I am at the 2 month mark and I am not sure what to do. I started studying in January and my test date is June 2nd. My goal score is 520, but I am starting to doubt whether I can hit that. Here's my score breakdown thus far:

AAMC Sample (took before content review): 69%/81%/93%/66% 510 (w/ a band of 508-512)

Kaplan FL 1 (February): 503

Kaplan FL 2 (Early March): 506 (128/127/128/123)

Kaplan FL 3 (Early April): 506 (127/126/128/125)

My last Kaplan score was super frustrating. Anyway, I have 4 TPR exams that I was planning on taking every weekend here in April while also hitting my Anki decks. But should I just dive in and take the AAMC FL1 to get a better idea of where I'm at? Just starting to get a bit worried. 🙁

@curvesetter ? Others?

It honestly looks like you're in good shape. I would continue with your plan and take the TPR exams and hold off to take the AAMC FL when your less than 4 weeks out since AAMC is a good indicator.

I was scoring in the low 510s on Kaplan roughly a month before my exam and ended up with a 524. Although I would’ve recommended you hold off on sample exam, your pre-review score was very high. Your Kaplans are pretty close to your target. I was also constantly trying to gauge my true score but you need to be patient. Do not touch AAMC practice exams until a few weeks before exam day. Resist the urge
Continue refining your knowledge, pounding flash cards and maintaining your scores. Make a flash card for every single mistake and everything you guessed on and got right. You’re very close. Keep going at!

I preferred to sprinkle my AAMC exams throughout my exam time, so I don’t think it’s too early to take just one. It will also give you an idea of the (vast) difference between the AAMC and Kaplan exam styles. Many people find Kaplan deflates exam scores, so you will probably see an increase. Don’t lose hope - you are on the right track. Good luck!

Alright @I'mJustCurious and @curvesetter,

I just started the section bank and I scored 83% on C/P (untimed)? curvesetter, how did you do on these?

section bank didn't exist back when i took it 🙂
sounds like a solid performance though

The kaplan and Princeton exams are brutal. I would rather use those to gauge upward trends rather than what you will get on the actual exam. Good luck!

Just retook the sample (It's been about 5-months and I didn't review the exam after the first go-around)!

Scored 93%/85%/88%/76% ~515 with a band of 511-519

The Kaplan's are quite deflated! Going to keep pounding P/S cards and CARS passages! Any tips before FL1 next week? @curvesetter
