I have all my pre-req done except phy 2, I was wondering if I should wait to finish phy2 next term before taking the mcat? Im already done with phy1. Also i apply next cycle.

I'm assuming that you are debating between taking the Jan 07 MCAT or one in April? If this is the case...IMO you should wait and take the April MCAT after you take Physics II in the spring. You will still be in the front end in terms of application time for next year's cycle and taking the second semester will help you better prepare for the MCAT.

in my opinion you should take the mcat after you finish the physics course. and if your course doesn't require memorizing the formulas, i would suggest memorizing them anyway - this will save you a lot of time when studying for the mcat.

exactly what I was thinking....so when does the applications open for the nexts cycle?
Thanks

uhh I would disagree here. Since there are sooo many more MCATs offered now for the computer version, I would take it before April for two reasons. April is stressful enough because it's near the end of the college semester when your finishing up papers and projects and planning the summer fun AND because if you took it a month or two earlier you could have your scores and a COMPLETE application by the beginning of May and get your applications out before a lot of other people. Plus if you aim for an earlier MCAT and then don't feel quite ready you could just wait for the April one and still be an early applicant....but I wouldn't recommend this. Try to pick a date and do everything in your power to be ready for it.

(This is my first real posting---- I have been browsing this site for 4 years....yes 4 years... and I think I have a foot to stand on now for some valuable conversation)

There are two problems with this...there are no times to take the MCAT between Jan and April, so the only options are late Jan, which would mean that he would not be done with Physics, or April. Secondly, even if he chose to take the Jan MCAT, he could not complete his applciation any eariler than the April MCAT people because registration for AACOMAS and AMCAS don't open until May 15. The scoring time is now 30 days or less, so early april people will have their scores back before May 15...putting them on the same time frame as the jan people. Take a look at the AAMC site for test dates, but if you have to do physics this spring, April is still going to be the best time if you want to be in the front end of the applciation cycle, IMO.
