I'm trying to study for the MCAT this semester.

Is there anything wrong with just taking three courses (chem 2, organic 1 and a management course) along with an independent study course (for which I will be doing medical research) for this semester?

Turns out to 13 cr. including the research. 12 cr. is as low as I can go for full-time status.

I am also shadowing doctors this semester.

you're going to attempt the MCAT without ochem 2 and doing ochem 1 and gen chem 2 at the same time? your school even allows that course schedule. sorry, it just sounds weird to me. as to actual # credit hours thats fine. treat the MCAT as a 4 credit course as an estimate of how much time you are going to have to devote to it at a minimum.

have to agree with the boy wonder here...I don't think I even thought about the MCAT until I had started taking Org II..and gen chem was all required before I could take that...

Good luck your going to need it, especially not having finished chem and ochem yet. But it might be just me cuz, I'm an idiot who had to withdraw winter qaurter just to study for the mcat.

in general, I think taking 3 classes (~12-14 credits) and studying for the MCAT is a good idea. Not sure about your schedule though.

i personally don't feel like orgo 2 helped me much for my MCAT. i think your credit hours are just fine. r u taking a prep course for the MCAT? i feel like PR really helped me. just stay really focused in studying for everything . . . good luck
