I know STEP 1 content covers much, much, much more content than the MCAT. But I can't help but wonder, does mastery of some of the MCAT material help out with medical school (in terms of understanding the language and context behind everything you learn in medical school)?

I'm talking about stuff like MCAT physiology, biochemistry and even psych/soc (neurobiology, sensation, development etc.).

No

Maybe biochemistry, specifically glycolysis and related pathways, but that's a still a miniscule part and is missing the clinical correlations.

No one cares or talks about MCAT once they are in med school. Like some above posters say, the content overlap of these two exams is minuscule. However, I thought the MCAT was more convoluted than step1

Mastery of MCAT biochem and biology might help you a bit in your basic science courses but it's not going to have a huge impact on Step 1, which is more clinically oriented. The material doesn't overlap and Step1 is a much tougher exam.
