for those who have taken the exam, is it definitely 7 passages with 5-7 questions per passage for a total of 40 questions? i was doing an old aamc book and it was like 9 questions per passage and was driving myself crazy to finish.

Yes, just check out e-mcat and take full length 3, although passage on real tests are a bit longer.

Old MCATs has those 9-10 question beasts that you will not see, however they are still good practice.
