I know this question has been asked a million times but can a relatively high mcat score ( 515) can cover up for a relatively low gpa (3.5) if all the extracirriculums are really good?

Historically over 60% of Non-URM applicants who applied with a 3.5/34 found an acceptance somewhere. So yes, those statistics can lead to an acceptance somewhere. Your recent grade trend will matter alot amongst many other factors in terms of deciding your fate.

I wouldn't use the words "cover up". Rather, a high MCAT score can compensate for a lower GPA, provided there is no recent downward grade trend.

what if there is two drops one spring semester of sophomroe year and one spring semester of junior year. but the rest are all up. will it be beneficial if you explain it in your personal statement of what happened?

For a 3.5? So, these "drops" you describe are a few Bs...it would come off as neurotic to explain it. And no, a semester of sophomore and a semester of junior is not a trend.

Grade summaries are listed year by year, not term by term, so that would even things out for you.
