MCPHS Boston vs Buffalo

Hi, im a senior in highschool. one question..
Where should I go for pharmacy?
I know Buffalo is much cheaper, but in mcphs, you are guaranteed to be a pharmacist.
However, if I work hard and graduate from Buffalo, I think bc of name value, not that MCPHS is bad, will be a better choice for me.
I don't know what to choose.
I also have another question, to be in a prepharm, is like the gpa and sat score same with regular admission or different?

I would recommend to go with the cheaper school! In terms of job placement, I don't think that should be a concern, especially if you don't mind working in retail.
Each school has its benefits. I currently attend MCPHS, but I know Buffalo has a great reputation. In terms of my school, it's located in proximity to many of the world's most prominent hospitals - Beth Israel Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Children's Hospital and such - so we have rotation sites at all these locations. I was told by our rotation coordinators (don't know if it's valid though) that many pharmacy schools around the country ask for our sites in these hospitals but we are unable to give them up due to the limited positions. Also, Boston is an awesome city and we are located across from Harvard Dental School and Harvard Medical School (in case you want to make some smart friends).
Anyhow, in all seriousness, I don't think the extra money is worth it, so I would pick Buffalo. As I am not familiar with Buffalo's program, so if you get accepted as a high school student, does this guarantee a spot in the professional program or do you have to take the PCATs?

UB is a wonderful place to get your pharmacy education.

We have an early assurance program for entering freshman.

Early assurance guarantees admission into the pharmD program after 2 years of pre-req's as long as you maintain a 3.5gpa. No PCAT, no LOR's, just a high grade point average. For some that is very attractive.

If you don't meet the early assurance criteria, you may still apply like everyone else but you will need to take the PCAT, get LOR's and write a personal statement.

There are no guarantees in pharmacy school. Whether your school is UB, MCPHS....anywhere- poor grades mean the same thing.

Are you for real??? Ok, so I go to MCPHS-Worcester and technically, although we're a different campus, we're the same school. I don't know much about the Boston campus so riddle me this...how the hell does some twit from the University of Michigan know so much and say all this with such a convincing demeanor??? I've been around SDN for a while now and you always talk like your **** doesn't stink...like U of M is the best thing since frigin sliced bread. Anytime you wanna put your pharmacy aptitude against mine...let me know. Schools are what you make of them. If you put the effort in then you can do well and succeed anywhere so for the OP...pick whichever one you think you'll be happy at and the sad truth is that nobody can make that decision for you which is why every thread with a title that has School X vs. School Y should officially be closed before a response even takes place.

Oh I have a lot of gripes about UofM. I just happen to also have a lot of gripes about other institutions too.

I've known a number of people who have gone to the school that whine to me; i also went to one of the schools in the Boston area for my undergrad degree. That aside, Buffalo has a teaching hospital which provides a lot of resources - that's generally an advantage you will find for most pharmacy schools. My friend who went to MCPHS tells me that therapeutics is taught like a nightmare there in addition to the highly weedout environment.

MCPHS is a private. UB is public. I am not too sure about MCPHS but I think it runs about 23,000 per year. At UB, your 1st year is considered an undergrad year, so if you are out of state, i think it runs about 15,000 and it goes up from P2 and on. But I heard it's relatively easy to get state residency.
Overall, I think UB is a lot cheaper than MCPHS. You can look through each school's website to get a better idea of tuitions
