I struggled with this decision also especially since I had interview requests from both schools.
It's tough. Here are reasons why I would pick each school.
MCPHS: It's accredited. Yes..there have been some bad stuff said about this school, BUT, the main thing is that it is accredited and they have graduated lots of pharmacists. Nicer area. More stuff to do outside school. I believe there is a big theatre across the street. Better security. Good atmosphere for studying. I believe MCPHS is a good school b/c it's in MA where alot of the good schools and IV leagues are. More mature and older crowd b/c 3 yr. program.
Touro: I didn't like the segregated area at all since it used to be an old naval base. Vallejo isn't the safest area either... It's not accredited, though I believe that in time, it eventually will be, but there's still that chance...
Good program- 2+2, 4 yrs. If you want to practice in CA, it's better to go to a CA school because you'll learn the CA laws for your jurisprudence test to become a licensed pharmacist in CA.
However, it doesn't matter where you go to school really, you'll still become a pharmacist regardless. Who says you can't study the CA laws on your own and still pass and become licensed in CA? I keep hearing that there are several current students in MCPHS originally from CA.
Main point- both schools have their positive and negatives, it just depends what YOU consider are important points in choosing a school.
Personally, I would have rather gone to MCPHS.
Good luck with the decision.
