Hey, whats the word. Has anyone heard anything on MCV giving out acceptances tomorrow? Word on the street is the 14th or 15th of this month...but then again...thats just word on the street. Just curious.

just got the email...i'm on hold...damn...oh well..another waitlisting season so far..

generally everyone gets put on hold at MCV...between the time of their interview and when the next round of offers is...did you just have your interview???

yeah... VCU put you on hold after the interview and the review by committee...

they said it's not like 'alternate list' like other school...

you will be ranked and they wait till the acceptance offer date...

so if you are on hold, it doesn't mean anything...

oh! and acceptance is coming out today? somebody knows about this for sure?

I got put on hold two weeks after the interview. Do you know if we're supposed to write to the school about how much we want to go there?

Honestly Bow...you are not supposed to "do" anything in this game. I am at MCV in the certificate program...trying to get in right now. From what I know being around people who know...once your file is scored after your interview and you are placed on the list...to wait till their next batch of offers...well then there is nothing you can do to change that score...in other words...its written in stone...in fact I don't even think the admissions people can change it after the committee votes on it. Your rank on the list can change depending on who else is on it at the time. In other words...don't waste your time. Hope that helps.

I am at MCV right now in the certificate program...and my roomate is med student at MCV. Word is from people I know who just had their interviews...that the next round of offers is set to go out Feb 15th...good luck everyone.

Thanks for the info everyone...does anyone know how many offers they give each time around, or in this batch particularly?

Im a PH.d student at MCV and interviewing here next wk. My roommate interviewed here last wk and told me that Dean Helbg said they have about 40-60 seats left and that most people that interviewed now would not get considered for the the Feb 15th offers but for the march (last set) offers. Im assuming now that MCV still has about 80 interviews left and they have to have some spots for the late interviews...praying I just make the cuts.

I interviewed 3rd week of jan and got the hold email today...does that mean i'm waitlisted or just till march? has anyone received an accpetance? If so, did you interview back in Jan/earlier/later? thanks

Dude...we answered that question...see the above posts. Relax...you are going to wait till the next round of offers. Peace

I don't want to be the shizzy, but I believe the deal with MCV/ VCU is that they occasionally tell people post interview that they are on "hold for decision" and that this is just a way to say we haven't forgotten about you, but they will be making decisions at a point later (see early - mid march)

Just my take

Bowdoinguy,
I was on the infinite hold list last year and made the effort to write to VCU several times throughout the spring. I kept them updated on my interest in the school and my latest activities/achievements. I don't know how much the letters played into it, but I got my e-acceptance in early June and am now an M1 there!

So....anyone hear anything today?? 😉

I'm out of it...what does BUMP mean?

It means Bring Up My Post....bringing a thread back up to the top of the page so that it can get some attention.

Basically what I'm doing right now. 😀

So no one's heard anything?? Come on now... 😛

I talked to a friend of mine who interviewed in early Jan. and he got the email stating that a final decision will be delayed until sometime in March. I have no idea what that means but hopefully there are still seats left in March.😕

Someone with the day off tomorrow should call and ask!

Well I called the admissions office today. The lady I spoke to said that the last batch of acceptances was sent out on Friday 2/14. She also said that you can send update letters, etc., but they won't change your ranking. They only look at those after all the acceptances have been sent out.

Guess it's more waiting for me... 🙁

please tell me that by "last batch of acceptances" you mean "most recent batch" right? Don't they send out more in March? Or did I just make that up to make myself feel better?

Oops. Yeah, by last batch I meant most recent batch. 🙂 I think there are still two batches left, one in March and one in April. So keep your chin up, there's still hope. Now all I need to do is to go and follow my own advice. 😀

ahhhh, good. That makes me feel much better, sorry for freakin out on ya.... Thanks for calling the admissions office by the way. Here's hoping for a march acceptace! 🙂

ok....hold it there peeps. Just to clear the air and sort out fact from fiction. First of all I talked to a member of the admissions dpt. in person today....and the facts are that they sent out a batch of acceptances...a very small one mind you...mostly for the Md/Phd people that want spots on Monday not Friday...although it was supposed to go out Friday. The rest of the seats I am told are going to be offered around mid March. Then after that the alternate list is going to be formed. Here, is hoping I make it this year. Peace...and I hope that helps.
